Both grades comply with ASTM C150 but differ in sulphate resistance — a critical factor for coastal, marine and sulphate-rich soil environments.
Type II — Moderate Sulphate Resistance
C₃A content ≤ 8%. Suitable for general construction, moderate exposure to sulphates. Lower heat of hydration than Type I.
Type V — High Sulphate Resistance
C₃A content ≤ 5%. Required for marine structures, sewage treatment plants, and foundations in sulphate-bearing soils.
